Supportive Voice Newsletter Features a Taste of National Congress
June 10, 2008
The Coalition’s quarterly newsletter, Supportive Voice, will be distributed at the end of June. Articles from several of the faculty presenters at our National Congress, Recovering Our Traditions III, are featured. Coalition Board members Dan O’Brien and Cathy Follmer share the journeys of their respective systems, Ascension and Catholic Health Partners, to make excellence in palliative care an organizational priority; Catholic Health Association staffer Julie Trocchio and Coalition Board member Dan Dwyer, help us understand how palliative care relates to community benefit; and Carol Taylor provides us with a “Care Index” tool that she prepared as part of her presentation “Caring for Oneself and One’s Colleagues.” Additionally, other articles affirm the role of the arts in touching those along life’s journey. Music thanatolgist Jane Franz shares “Music-Thanatology: A Specialty Within Palliative Care, Past and Future,” and professional actress Megan Cole writes of her experiences as a teacher of health care professionals through drama. The newsletter is available free of charge to anyone working within one of our member organizations, and by donation to all others. If you or a colleague would like to be added to our mailing list, please send an email to peggy.berwick@providence.org, and include your name, position/title, facility name, complete mailing address, and the name of your parent health system.
