Recovering Our Traditions Conference Materials Available

In This Section

April 20, 2006

Nearly 300 participants gathered in San Antonio January 26-28 for an intense and rewarding look at challenges and successes in palliative care.   Described by many participants as “one of the best conferences I’ve ever attended,” Supportive Care Coalition's second national congress covered a broad range of issues, with a particular focus on the Catholic tradition of care for the dying.

Myles Sheehan, SJ, MD, of Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine; Dr. Richard Payne, director of the Duke Institute on Care at the End of Life, Sr. Carol Taylor, director of the Center for Clinical Bioethics, and Dr. Christina Puchalski, director of the George Washington Institute for Spirituality and Health were among the distinguished faculty.

In order to bring this exceptionally learning experience to as wide an audience as possible, audio and video recordings were made of most sessions.  Supportive Care Coalition is also making most of the accompanying PowerPoint presentations available on-line.
