Deadline Looms for Comment on Working Group Recommendations

In This Section

August 18, 2006

Your input is needed on The Citizens’ Health Care Working Group interim recommendations.  The deadline for comment is August, 31, 2006.

Recommendation six is directed to Palliative Care and many of the comments so far submitted demonstrate a profound misunderstanding of palliative care.  The recommendations will be submitted to President Bush and could influence future federal support of palliative care.  To offer your comments and/or review the document,  we encourage you and your colleagues to use the site www.chausa.org/workinggroup so that CHA has a sense of the ministry responses in these final two weeks. Suggested comment points are also available.

In one of the latest updates, CHA's Mike Rodgers stated, "Congress and the President created the Working Group to solicit public concerns and suggestions on the health care system in the U.S. and recommend improvements based upon them. The Working Group continues to accept comments on its interim recommendations to reshape the U.S. health care system through Aug. 31, and hundreds of ministry voices already have commented in support of a health care system that serves everyone."

He also stated, "The Working Group's first recommendation is that it should be public policy for all Americans to have affordable health care. Help make sure this recommendation and others--such as restructuring the way palliative care is delivered--are included in the final recommendations that will be reviewed by President Bush and the subject of congressional hearings."
