For Spirituality

Religious and spiritual beliefs play an important role when dealing with life's joys, hardships and sorrows.  When facing health problems, religious beliefs and practices can become a source of strength for both patients and care givers alike.  Spiritual beliefs can help both overcome feelings of helplessness, restore meaning and order to life situations and promote regaining a sense of control.

The Coaliltion's Spirituality Initiative pilot study was designed to test ways of restoring the heart and humanity to health care by reintegrating an awareness of spirituality and spiritual caring into the role of each care provider.  Health care professionals who attend to the spiritual dimension of their patients' lives find that they not only provide more personalized care to their patients; they nurture their own spiritual awareness and growth as well.  To link to an article highlighting the study and its findings, click here.  To review the executive summary, click here.
