•  Palliative Care Leadership Center Training
Throughout 2008

Palliative Care Leadership CentersSM (PCLC) is a national training and mentoring initiative supported by a consortium of funders, with direction and technical assistance provided by the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC). Exemplary palliative care programs located at six different institutions, PCLC offers training and mentoring to help start and expand hospital palliative care programs in the U.S.

Initiative for Pediatric Palliative Care Retreats
Throughout 2008

IPPC educational retreats are designed for interdisciplinary teams of practitioners and bereaved family members from hospitals, hospice and home care organizations, neonatal units, community coalitions, and other groups serving children and families. Participants are given the opportunity to facilitate sessions from the IPPC curriculum in a train-the trainer format, while also learning from IPPC faculty. Faculty members are pediatric palliative care leaders specially trained in a collaborative and interdisciplinary approach to professional education. Plenary sessions tailored to regional needs and issues afford participants the opportunity to network with colleagues in their region. Dates and locations slated for 2008:

The Art and Science of Palliative Care Nursing 
June 5-7, 2008 / Newton, MA  
Sponsored by Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care

This course has been specially developed for nurses, by nurses, in palliative care and will focus on adult palliative nursing and the essential concepts in end-of-life care including communication, pain and symptom management, and ethics. • Palliative Care in the ICU: Closing the Gap between Current Knowledge and Clinical Practice
