Bayer Conversations at the End of Life

Conversations at the End of Life consists of six one-hour modules that follow a similar format.

Topics include:

•  Overview of palliative care and defining a "good death"
•  Discussing advance care planning
•  Shifting focus to primarily palliative care
•  Preparing for a death, death notification, and grief
•  Managing family anger and distrust
•  Resolving conflicts arising from cultural differences

A seventh, follow-up module is presented as a large group exercise to discuss who should talk with family members in a complex health care institution.

The modules can build on each other or stand alone. They can be used in mixed groups to promote interdisciplinary learning and communication, or with learners from a single discipline.

Workshop materials include a workbook with the text of the slides and cases, and an extensive annotated bibliography.
