Membership Structure

All Coalition members are Catholic health ministries.  Most members are health systems, but members also include the Catholic Health Association of the United States, Catholic Healthcare Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and several individual hospitals.

Membership is held at either the full or affiliate level.  Affiliate membership was established to enable ministries for which the full dues assessment might preclude membership, such as systems with a high proportion of long term care facilities, to benefit from joining the Coalition.  For facilities that belong to a larger organization, membership at the system level spreads benefit most broadly and is strongly encouraged.  Ministries desiring to join the Coalition may indicate their preference for either full or affiliate membership.  The Coalition’s board of directors makes the determination as to the appropriate membership level.

Full membership includes:

  • Voting membership on the governing board
  • Two board member positions
  • Opportunity to serve as committee or board chair
  • Participation in programs for which the Coalition has received grant funds
  • Opportunity to respond to request for proposals (RFPs)
  • Full access to all Coalition resources
  • Voice in shaping the work of the Coalition

Affiliate membership includes:

  • One member on the governing board, nonvoting
  • Full access to all Coalition resources
  • Opportunity to respond to request for proposals (RFPs)
  • Access to Coalition resources
  • Annual dues level set at one/half that of full member

Membership Evaluation Process

The board of directors reviews and acts upon all membership applications.
